Applicant Frequently Asked Questions - Answers 1. What is the minimum age to be a security guard? The minimum age is 19 years old for any persons wishing to pursue a career as a security guard, supervisor, etc. This minimum age is set out in the Private Investigators and Security Agencies (PISA) Act for licensing purposes. <<Back<< 2. Do I need a certificate or formalized training to be a security guard? All candidates wishing to pursue a career in the security industry must complete the minimum training requirements set out by the PISA Act. This training consists of the Basic Security Training 1 and 2 (BST 1 & 2) and a certificate of completion is issued upon passing the written and physical testing. Please refer to the Education section for more information on training schools. <<Back<< 3. After I receive my BST 1 & 2 certificate, what do I do? You will be entitled to apply for a security position within our company or any licensed security company. Please refer to the Criteria section. <<Back<< 4. After I am selected for employment what type of training will I receive? All new employees will be provided with supplementary training and client specific training. Please refer to Training section. <<Back<< 5. Are there fees involved with security licensing? There is a fee for the initial security application which is payable to the Ministry of Attorney General, Security Programs Division and an annual renewal fee. There is also a one-time fee for fingerprinting and criminal background checks, payable to your local Police Department. <<Back<< 6. What is the starting rate for employment? Tri-Force Security does not have one specific starting rate as our starting rate will depend on the site our new employee will be assigned. The starting rate will depend on the client’s bill-out rate which is determined by the complexity of the duties, the assigned role, contract terms, etc. <<Back<< 7. Does your company supply uniforms? We provide all security uniforms except for personal items such as socks, shoes, belt, etc. We do not hold a deposit for uniforms. <<Back<< 8. Does your company have personal benefits and an incentive program? We do provide personal benefits for employees who have successfully completed 90 days full-time employment. We also do have an incentive program. Details are listed in the main FAQ section. <<Back<< 9. Does your company accept dual licensing? We do accept dual licensing in compliance with the PISA Act. <<Back<< 10. Does your company hire women? We do hire women. We do not discriminate by gender, race, etc. <<Back<< 11.
